Representation
Why Typvs treats a letter, its contour, and its variations as related data.
A letter can be read in two ways: as the visible shape on the page and as the decisions that produced it. Typvs keeps both views close together. This allows a drawing to be inspected without losing the relationships beneath it.
Drawing and structure
The filled or outlined letter is the output. Its contour is a sequence of path commands. Nodes describe where that sequence changes direction or curvature. Measures provide a shared frame for comparing letters.
Why it matters
If only the final image survives, changing its weight or comparing it with another form becomes harder to reason about. A structural representation leaves a record of points, curves, and reference lines that can be studied together.
From one form to a family
The interactive HOno study shows weight and Roman / Italic controls. The separate use-case preview compares the Hamburgefontsiv specimen across weights and styles. These are illustrative views, not a claim that a general font-generation interface is available. Compare them in Type families.
